I met Dex on a referral from another club member. I am a 47 year old male and have been in reasonable shape for a few years, being a regular practitioner of martial arts. The intensity of my fitness regimen would ebb and flow around gradings and tournaments, but I was training on a fairly regular basis. In addition, I was teaching at my karate dojo every Saturday. My karate training was getting a little stale, so I took a leave of absence for the summer to train with Dex in boxing and kickboxing. I am pleased to tell you that, from a fitness point of view, this was the best move I ever made.

Dexter's classes have been absolutely great for me. After years of poor diet and lack of exercise, I felt sluggish and lacked energy. A lack of energy was affecting my ability to keep up with super long days (6am-11pm) at the office and school. I wanted something that would allow for a physiological change in the way my body is able to use energy as well as the psychological and mental benefits of exercise which include the ability to cope with stress and maintain focus, amongst others. I joined his classes weighing in at 220lbs, and am now 200lbs. I think a major benefit of his class is that it motivates you to live an active lifestyle outside the class. I would have never thought I could learn how to swim late in life, start my own business or break out of my shell. Dex is not just a boxing coach, he's a life coach. His incredible workout is exhilarating for both the body and mind.
The improvements to my body in three years training with him are remarkable. At 43, I am stronger than I have ever been, my cardio output well surpasses any other point in my life.
